The firm began in the 1960’s as Kentucky Real Estate and at that time was owned by the respectable firm of Reid and Reid Solicitors. The business then operated from 50 Tudor Street Hamilton, Newcastle, and it was during this time our principal, John Karmas, worked for the firm as a part-time real estate property consultant.
However, in Dec 1973, due to the illness of the then manager, the opportunity arose for John Karmas to acquire the business. By this time the business was operating at 50 Maitland Road, Mayfield, and was acquired and renamed John Karmas Real Estate, Newcastle.
Due to consistent growth the business moved to a new site at 89 Maitland Road Mayfield, Newcastle, and took on the franchise name of Nationwide Realty – John Karmas.
In late 2002, the business amalgamated with a three generation family firm, Ivor F. Johns & Sons Real Estate, which had a tradition of consistent and dependable property service from what was almost the bushman days to the complex current commercial scene. At about this time we decided to move to an even larger site in the heart of Mayfield, at 262 Maitland Road, and by this time we traded under the name Realty Partners – John Karmas in order to reflect the character of the firm in involving licensed and trustworthy real estate associates.
